hen keys and strings unite, they create beautiful music. If you throw in other musical instruments and a hard-working composer into the mix, you’ve got a recipe for an unforgettable film score.

Here are some of the most recognisable ones in the past few years:

The music from “Inception”

Christopher Nolan is known for featuring a specific set of actors in his films. To cite a few examples, he has cast Cillian Murphy as “Scarecrow” in the Batman trilogy and the actor also has a significant role in “Inception”; Joseph-Gordon Levitt also appears in the two films, as did Ken Watanabe and Tom Hardy.

The same can be said for his choice of composer. Both the Batman trilogy and Inception were scored by none other than Hans Zimmer. He also composed the music for Nolan’s upcoming flick “Interstellar”.

Speaking of the score for this film, who could forget the sound of horns blaring as structures started toppling over. It sounded great in the trailer and was even better when watching the flick.

The music from “The Boy Who Lived”

Of course, this refers to the one and only Harry Potter, the boy who managed to capture the attention of book and film lovers around the world.

Who wouldn’t be able to recognise notes from “Hedwig’s Theme”? The very magical sounding score has been present in every film in the series. The person to thank for this unforgettable piece of music is John Williams.

Plus, who didn’t enjoy the little treat he gave us in The Prisoner of Azkaban where the Frog Choir sang “Something Wicked This Way Comes”?

The music from “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy

Do you remember the Nazgul coming out of the gates of Mordor? Do you recall them launching an attack on the hobbits on the watch tower of Amon Sul? How about the score during the preparation for Bilbo’s long expected party, is the music still playing in your mind?

Well, all of these memorable tunes were composed by Howard Shore. In fact, the soundtrack from the trilogy was awarded twice for Best Original Score and once for Best Original Song during the Academy Awards (Oscars).

These are just some of the most memorable ones in the past few years. On a related note, check this article on some of the most popular fictional bands featured in films.
